Monet in Antibes
This new presentation focuses on four months in the life of French Impressionist leader Claude Monet in Antibes on the French Riviera, where he created almost 40 paintings, many of which can be found in American art museums.
Monet was dazzled by the Mediterranean light and the beautiful natural landscapes of this typically Provençal coastal city, from the pine groves to the medieval fortifications, the snowy Alps, the rocky coast, and local vegetation.
Not only will you be able to admire almost all of Monet’s Antibes paintings, but you will also see the exact locations where Monet once put his easel in 1888, and how these places look today. A fantastic journey back to the 19th century with outstanding artworks that Monet conceived for the exhibition he had in mind
